I have problem with installing new ram, If I install my extra 2gb the computer starts but does a long bleep every couple of seconds and wont continue? I have 2gb installed already.

Com spec:

AMD Fx64 cpu
Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G motherboard
Ati X1900xtx graphic card
OCZ pc2 8000 duel channel (2 sticks installed 2gb)
720 watt psu
Windows XP home eddition

The two memory sticks it wont accept are exactly the same as the ones already installed..

I built the computer myself but i'm unable to solve this problem!!

For specific reference of your beep codes, refer to your motherboard manual. The beep codes sound like your motherboard is indicating a problem with your memory from what you've said, but I would make sure.

It could be possible that the two sticks are not in the right memory spots. Dual channel motherboards sometimes require memory to be placed into certain spots for operation, again check the motherboard manual for more information.

There is another possibility. Ram sticks do sometimes come defected brand new, to test whether this is the case, I would put the new stick of 2gb ram into the same slots as the old ones. Since it's the same ram, it should work fine.

If I'm reading you correctly, you have 4 1gb sticks, two new ones and two old ones. It is possible that the new ones are actually using different chips, even though they are from the same manufacturer. I would perform the above test to see if they're compatible with your motherboard.

If they're not, OCZ has great service. Simply give them an e-mail or a call and they will give you a replacement without much hassle. Every story I've heard about OCZ warranty replacements have been good, and they often help you out even if the product is not defected (just not compatible).

Last but not least, it's possible your motherboard has defective ram slots. I would take those two sticks currently in your machine and put them where your new two sticks are (if your motherboard allows you to config your memory that way, check the manual).

Hope this helps, if you need more help feel free to contact me,
Ken

Computers don't bleep - they beep. :)

Make sure the sticks are seated completely in their sockets.

It could be that one (or both) of them are bad. If you're sure they are the correct kind (and it sounds like they are because they're the same as the others,) try removing the original two and putting in the new two (they should be in slots 1 & 2.) If the computer still beeps, then you probably have an issue with those two.

If the computer takes the new two by themselves, then maybe there's a problem with the mobo's other two memory slots. The board itself can take 16gb so 4gb shouldn't be an issue.

Well done!!! you burned your BIOS.
1st; both ram must be run at the same frequency
and 2nd; you should have installed it complately, push it down until the ram is locked.
