Well the hottest topics nowadays seem to be...
Abortion...those against it say it is morally wrong, and that it is killing an innocent child. Arguements for those who think abortion is okay is that the fetus doesn't count as person...and that it is a woman's choice.
Capital Punishment...Again people say it is morally wrong and that living the rest of their lives in jail cells is punishment enough for criminals. Those for the death penalty think it is the best punishment for some criminals and that it should be carried out quicker.
Prayer/religion in school.
Gay marriage...Again, immoral..blah blah. Those for it think that people have the right to choose who they can love and marry and marry and that the government should not have the right to decide that.
I hope this helps...These are just generalizations and the short version of the arguements for these topics.

Abortion is a topic you can find tons of info on. Plenty of women willing to share their stories and here's a site to help you if you need to look up info about why some people might be against it... There a re a lot of women here who were for it and are now against it. Might be an interesting angle to explore!

Global warming, environmental protection versus industry are both topics with a lot of information. Immigration is another big one.

Or you could have fun with something like toilet paper - over or under...or coke vs pepsi....

the war is obvious, but easy to research. or something different than everyone like having kids when you have a career, you know day care/nanny verses stay at home mom? good luck
