When the status of an item is "backordered", it simply means that the item is temporarily out of stock and the company is waiting to receicve their shipment of the item. As soon as they receive their shipment, they will send it on to you.

It means they are feeding you a line to shut you up for a short amount of time until they can think of another excuse to give you. But if they are reputable it means that they do not have any stock in at the time and that their supplier is having to order it in.

I think it means they are trying to get everything worked out so they can ship the book to you. sometimes where you live makes it harded for a database to process the information
