Define Silence?

There is a song about it, an old good one: The sounds of silence,

"... And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence..."
"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence..."

In appropriate circumstances, silence can be more vocal than speech..... obviously because we can feel it without hearing a sound. When we hear silence, the words are our own, what we attribute to it..... and therefore much more effective on us than any words used by others.

The only true silence is in an airless environment. Which means the answer is no, because to hear true silence, you'd have to be in a vacuum and would die.

Scientifically speaking...

Sound is Energy.

Since Silence is the lack of sound,
it is also the absence of energy.

You can't hear silence, but you can sense the lack of sound.

Yes I can. It sounds very good. It's what will survive whene our stupid world will be finished, at last. It was there before us.
I think it's God.
