It seems that Y!A politics has become nothing but a forum to insult the "other side". Are there any people asking serious questions and giving serious, well thought-out answers any more or have we all regressed into grade-shool bullies?

If you read my answers you can see that I tend to have reasoned answers or arguments rather that pure insults. I agree with you though, and I worry about the future of the planet when I realise that some of the people on here are actually allowed to vote too.

I can sometimes understand why the politicians hold much of the electorate in such utter contempt. Reading some of the answers on Yahoo Answers, one is constantly surprised at the level of ignorance and pure prejudices that many people still hold.

I do have the occasional 'rant' on here myself, but there is always an aim, an underlying argument or point that I am expressing.

I agree with you that the standard of discourse and debate MUST be raised. Too many people appear to wear their ignorance and prejudices' as a banner of pride.

Intelligent and reasoned answers only please.

this whole thing was a great idea but clearly has become little more than a bunch of 13 year olds just trying to insult and anger each other. it seems they need some serious moderators, since the "why are liberals/conservatives so dumb?" seem to be posted every 3 seconds over and over again.

My thoughts exactly. But lately, I must say, I've seen some
great answers from Bilbo O'Liely, Mike O, Longhaire,
Michelle, Stephanie, & Answerman - if you can find their
stuff, it's like a treat.

yes, there are some serious answers but even fewer serious questions. Basically, this forum has turned into one big joke with a high percentages of trolls.

Well at least we can't physically hurt anyone. It has always been pretty bad. Ever hear of the caning of Charles Sumner. It's a great story:

But yeah, it is a sorry state of affairs.

i am capable of doing it. i sometimes do insult when insulted though. i even seen a few others.

i think hiding behind a computer makes it too easy for people to insult others.

democrats and liberals do not seem to listen to reasonable and intelligent answers. most pose questions in an insulting manner and refuse to engage in intelligent discourse. it is possible sometimes, but for the most part, they are here to insult and call names like the grade school bullies you mention.
