Politicians are lying crooks in office for the purpose of getting their own. While I find some politicians slightly above standard, most of them are curiously amoral.
For instance:
Clinton and Hilary are both lying scum (and Clinton's book looked like it have been written by a third grader).
Bush is an inside trader (Harken stock), and he flopped two businesses in 6 years.
Doesn't anybody get a little tired of defending the undefendable? Let's just all admit that we are ruled by scum and figure out how to change this!!

blind partisanship is the reason. the way to fix it is easy,vote on issues,never blindly follow a party. but that makes too much sense for most americans.

Let talk realities!
The real divisions in this country are not Democrat and Republican, or Liberal vs Conservative.....
The division is one of class, the wealthy class vs the working class
The wealthy class has kept the fight going for over a hundred years by turning the working class against each other.
Dividing them on issues which over the years has been; Slavery, abortion, gun rights, immigration, progressive vs flat tax, welfare, civil rights and the list goes on! The reality is that the working class has never been that divided until someone stokes the fire. that is done by people with money who slap people in the face with some supposed slight.
Hell, this country fought a civil war over rights of representation, all as a justification that the wealthy kept power! Then to add insult to injury, they claimed the war was over slavery so that they could free the slaves, NOT because it was the right thing to do mind you- BUT because the wealthy wanted someone they could pay less then the irish!
What was the significance of this you ask, The Irish were uniteing for fair wages, If they could find someone they could pay less, then they could undermine them, and force them to work for even less.
This was the same scenario that played out in the depression with immigrants! It wasn't the wealthy who were living high on the hog that were the cause- the wealthy claimed it was immigrants who had comehere to steal jobs. In reality the cause of the depression was fear by the wealthy that working people would rise up as they had all over europe!
As long as the people who work for a living in this country can be convinced to attack each other over made up BS issues, instead of diecting their combined efforts against those at fault,
This country will never be free and it will never be ours!

Politicians of both parties represent the interests of the corporate sponsors, special interests and lobbyists that support them and the national party committees... the do not represent their constituents.
The way to change this is by electing third party candidates or always voting against the incumbant. Once they realize they have 2 years and they are out they will begin to concern themselves with the desires and needs of their constiuents. Until that happens the DNC and RNC will have our elected representatives under their control since they control who gets infusions of reelection cash.

I agree if you place a little more importance to the fact that lying under oath is not as bad as what Bush is doing. Oliver North lied to Congress under oath and admitted it - was it OK because he was a Republican.
