This is a typical question and I don't know why people are being so annoyingly rude to you. I was preggers and asked basically the same thing. I just wanted to know WHY it was bad to go tanning in the tanning bed while preggers and everyone basically said that it isn't necessarily that you "cook" the baby, but when you get hot, baby gets hot. So, if you go tanning and get extremely hot, your bub will too so, it is best that you just wait until bub is born. GEEEEEEZZZZZZZ. People get so nutty on here. Besides, there is nothing documented that it is HORRIBLE to tan while preggers, they just say no because they aren't sure and why risk it? You can wait. I had to and ya know what? I never even went back tanning after I had her. I went tanning like every 3 days before I got pregnant. Then I stopped and after I had her, never returned. Now that you mention it, I may go one of these days. I do feel kinda ugly. Good luck and congrats if you are preggers.

The extreme heat of the tanning bed may be harmful to the baby or you, particularly in the last trimester. This is not only true of tanning beds but of general exposure to the sun during pregnancy and even local governments have passed laws against tanning while you are pregnant. Many tanning salons will not take clients who are pregnant, for reasons of liability.
You need to consult with your physician before hand, tanning either by bed or sun. Why would you want to tan during pregnancy anyhow?

i don't believe that you she go under all of those rays of heat while pregnant, it may hurt the baby. But what you can do is show off your beautiful motherhood in Florida, or a very hot spot, by wearing a bikini on the beach, and bathing in the sun. And when it's time to go home, you'll be glad that you didn't spend any money on professional tanning, you did it for free on your own time with out hurting the baby.

I wouldn't but theres not really a definite answer either way. Some people tan right up until they give birth. It is illegal in some states though. Why not go with the spray tan. I wouldn't worry about it until your into your late second trimester.

I never went to a tanning booth, but I spent a ton of time in the sun and at the beach with both pregnancies. I asked my doc about it and he said it was fine. I'm not sure about tanning booths though, ask your doc on that one.

I would be very careful about doing anything...with any kind of rays of any kind. I would consult a doctor. I know that you can't have xrays if you are pregnant. I would think the same thing for tanning. Consult a doctor though.

No tanning beds are not safe for the baby, the baby could get overheated. I have given them up during my pregnancy. It sucks being pale, but I'd rather be pale then put my baby at risk.
