As a dark skinned female, I have been told on several occasions that I am cute or pretty for a dark skinned girl. This really throws me for a loop because I don't think that's a compliment at all. It's like they're saying that most dark skinned females are not attractive an I am an exception to the rule which is not the case at all. There are plenty of beautiful darker complexed people. Has anyone ever experienced this and this is to include all nationalities.

You are right to be offended. But understand this. Most people don't know how offensive that comment is. And you will find most black people say it. That's because most of us suffer from a slavery mentality. We tend to think the lighter the skin the more attractive the person. Slaves were taught this mentality. Ever wonder why the house slaves were mostly lighter skinned. This caused animosity between slaves because the house slaves had a lighter work load. What you have to do is love and appreciate yourself. Be patient and understanding to other people because unfortunately they don't know any better. Besides beauty is truly skin deep. God, is more concerned with your heart and soul not your skin color.

here is my viewpoint. I am a white male 50 y.o. I grew up in NYC in a neighboorhood perhaps 60% black. I have always been more attracted to lighter skinned women for whatever reason. It would be over the top rude and crude to 'complement' one of my dark skinned friends as having great skin for a dark person. Now so far as guys and women I meet as acquaintances and friends their color is a moot point.

Yes. While i am not dark skinned, a white girl told me "you re hot for a spi.c". what are you gonna do? sometimes, people aren't attracted to other races and complexions. I see it as a compliment. Ive seen many beautifully dark skinned women, but If someone isn't normally attracted to them, and your an exception to that, id consider you very pretty. just my two cents.

That is like my EX husband saying to me, ''You are the best mother I know. But, there is alot of room for improvement''. He actually said it.

I am often told I look young--------that I do not look my age. I can still easily pass for 50, and I am 66 years old. Good genes!

I'm not dark complexioned, but have heard white people compliment me on my "color". It seems white people only accept blacks who aren't too dark, and the same goes for some black people; particularly black men. I can't stand when the darkest man (black) grins in my damned face...

how rude!

I know what you mean... okay, heres something really funny, I got into a little quarrel with my boyfriend cause he called me his little "black" angel!... (like angels are all supposed to be white or something) lol! Apparently he thought it was a compliment.

Most people do not realize that they are being insulting... and its up to you to let them know that they are!
