MySpace has it's pro and cons.
From the parent' perspective (which is my perspective) I see it as a problem. While I understand the need for self expression and it does promote creativity and expression of thoughts it also creates an environment where bad things are predominant.
If you look at just about any MySpace profile and the comments and photos and bulletins that go along with it you constantly find sexual material, illegal drug references, under age drinking references, photos of suggestive nature and the level of profanity is amazing. I wonder how many users would be proud to show their parents or pastor or minister or teacher (etc.) their website and the be happy to stand there and allow them to browse their 'network of friends' website. I suspect none.
And there in lies the falacy of it all. Most young adults would be embarrased to have someone the look up to (an elder) look at their MySpace. And yet.. this information that's out there.. it open to the public! Anyone can see what you've put online.. and yet.. more would be ashamed for their parents to see the full content of their website.
It seems that this freedom of expression... has created a freedom of stupidity and self degredation.
Three of my kids have a MySpace profile. One is totally out of control and out of the house and living a life of drugs and alchahol. One is at home with no job, irresponsible and from her myspace appears to be quite the party girl... although she wants us to believe differently. The other.. the youngest of the three... has her's marked as private and I have full access to it and it will remain that way until she's 18.
MySpace... a dredge on society or a boon to freespeech, creativity and expression? My call... it's a problem.
There's my two cents worth. Hope this helps!

The internet is a quick way for lonely people to get laid. MySpace didn't start that. That being said, it is a waste. It's a neat way to keep in touch with some friends around the country, but beyond that it is a vast wasteland of stupid polls, and idiotic blogs from teens that don't have the first clue about real life.

i'm no longer a huge fan of Myspace, or any of an identical web content. it really is helpful to work out what previous associates that i have not been in contact with for a lengthy time period are doing, yet I hate happening the region. there are such an excellent type of annoying classified ads, the region plenty extremely sluggish, and that i do basically not look after it very a lot. I used to flow on facebook even as it become fantastically for faculty childrens, yet then I were given uninterested in that besides. I keep the money owed to keep in contact with human beings i do not get to work out a lot anymore, yet I infrequently log into them. MQ: i'm particular there have been bands that received repute from the web, yet none come to options as we communicate.

I Love myspace. I've been able to chat with people that I haven't seen since high school. 10 years ago. And I've met some really great people. The ones who write me and ask to hook up just get ignored. Myspace was made as a way to meet people and network, not just to blog....

i feel the same as you.. myspace is a waste of time and its just stupid..i think that people with no real friends go on there..but like some organizations or celebrities have myspaces for advertisement..so besides that i think myspace should not have even been created because that is another place for cyber bullying and getting yourself into trouble

I enjoy myspace to a point, I agree there are alot of freaky people on it. I keep all of my information private & its only use to me is to stay in contact w/ people I graduated with. I graduated about 8 years ago, so I have been able to reconnect with some people I haven't seen since then.

Well, In deleting your profile you don't really exhist in the cyber world of drama and chatter's! It's really no big deal. By deleting yourself in this type of society really cuts down the drama and stress! I'm sure we all could deal with out it! Don'w worry you'll be fine. Just remember with a price you pay of deleting is that you'll be left out, unless they are real friends and email you the posting anyways! I'm sure you'll miss it, but you could always start a new one and only invite ones you care about, just to keep in touch! No money business! lol... And make it private!

I LOVE myspace. It has put me back in touch with several friends from high school that I had lost touch with and I'm not on there because I'm "lonely looking to get laid" I'm married. I think it's a great place to get back in touch with old friends.

My opinion is two-sided. I think on one hand its wonderful. It allows you to get in touch or keep in touch with friends you haven't seen in years. So that's good. But on the other hand it is a way for lonely people to get in touch. A place for perverts to get there kicks.
