EBay is very difficult to judge. I have sold stuff on there that I genuinely believe I didn't stand a hope in hell of selling, yet stuff I was sure would go, was left unsold.
Check your prices against similar items. Check that your postage costs are fair. Put some work into each ad, make sure there's a photo of the item, some different coloured texts, and be very honest about the quality.
It's also going to depend on what kind of things you're trying to sell. Are there loads of the same thing also for sale from other buyers? Over the last year or so, I reckon eBay buyers have become much more picky as the novelty has worn off.

Do you have any feedback on your eBay account? Many people are hesitant to shop from someone with no (or low) feedback. You also need to make sure you are providing a really good description of the item(s) you are selling and include good photos.
An other thing to consider when selling something on eBay is the price that you are listing the item at. Is your starting bid (or buy it now) price really high? Research similar items and make sure you put your price in the proper ballpark.

I've been selling on ebay for a little over 2 years and I still remember how hard it was just starting out. You can get a free ebay success kit that has everything you need to get started right at: http://smart-money-help.com/free-ebay-kit . The information in that kit will answer every question you have...and a lot more. I highly recommend you get it before you get too far into the ebay thing.

After the Holidays people may be a little low of funds. Also, you have to have fairly nice things to sell. Browse items sold to see what things similar to yours have sold for, NOT, what they listed for, but, what they actually SOLD at and what the starting bid was to get buyers bidding. Listing too high, many not even bid. A .99-1.99 starting bid may get people into the heat of competition and they may bid the item to $10, where as asking 9.99 to start, people may never start to bid. Keep shipping as low as possible, but, be sure you cover your expense in shipping; Tape, Boxes etc.
