First, learn the difference between "know" and "no" and really there's no way to KNOW unless you ask them, and be careful about that you might offend if they're not or if they're not out or something along those lines. The best thing to do to ignore it and if they come out to you then great and if they don't, it's none of your business anyway.

I know this sounds kind of blunt, but just ask them if it's somthing you really think you need to know or just come to a conclusion on your own based on how they dress, walk, talk, and such.
Most of my friends are gay men and I know they don't all have all of the signs that would normaly que someone in on their sexual habbits.
I really think there's alot more gay men and lesbian women out there than most people realise.
You'd be surprised at the people I run into at the gay bars while out with my friends. There are men who I know have wives and children at home and I never would have guessed to have an intrest in the other men.
You just never know for sure unless you see them with another man or just ask them.

They must admit to it. Don't ever assume someone is gay because of the way they act or what someone else says. I have known completely straight guys who acted like total flames, and totally gay guys who acted like macho jocks. The only way to truly know is if that person admits it to you.

You will know when and if they tell you; or if they set out to make it public knowledge. (For example, give an interview, etc...)
