Hi Henry, methinks poli tical it is not, people are voting for their nearest and dearest, hence we always get a reasonable vote from Ireland.. Take last years British voting to find our song for Europe. A song with a Scottish connection only got TOP votes from guess where!!!!! yes Scotland. Not political , just biased. Cheers

It's political in the sense that Greece and Cyprus always give each other 12 points, the Scandanavian countries swap top points, Baltic states do the same. Add into that the Britain getting hardly any votes from anyone after we invaded Iraq (and the lack of votes wasn't JUST because it was an awful song).

The whole voting rigmarole is simply a case of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours".

And then there's the fact that according to Eurovision, Israel is part of Europe. How can that not be a political statement?

Its political in the sense that everybody knows who gives votes to who before they are even cast. The neighbouring countries and allies give maximum points between themselves. Countries that can't stand another won't give points to them.

It's political because the countreis vote for their neighbours or countries they are scared of, not for who they think is most talented.
