A couple that have been married over 50 yrs..put me under their wings during a difficult time. Good hearted christian folks. When he met her he was getting out of a war..she had a **** load of kids, as I do..her husband at the time was a drunken fool who died somehow..but this other man married the women and took her children in as his own..and have been together every since. They admit to having many arguments and disaggreements but learned to get through them. I would like to be like that. I wanna be at the end of my life with the knowledge that I tried to be the kind of people that they are!

My Grandfather, the obvious would be un-conditional love...but the quality I would most like to have from him would be his un-ending patience. He is so patient and calm, he can always see the good in each situation, so he just does not let it bother him. He could spend 10 minutes explaining how something works, or 10 days and be just as patient about it, just so he leaves the situation feeling like he has left you with the knowledge you need. He always makes time for you, even if you are a stranger and will set aside whatever it was he was working on and help you with your problem.

He faces life and it's consequences no matter what. When he gets depressed he just keeps going like the Ever Ready Bunny or something. He "puts forth the effort" in everything he does. He admits his faults to the one who loves him and he cries when he's sad and he tells the truth if he trusts the person. To me, that's strength!! He LIVES his life!!! That takes guts to just keep right on going no matter what. He deals with God and is fully aware there's an eternity, yet he's ready to go if that stops him, because nothing but death ever will. I respect that. And I married him too. He holds me up when I fall.

My best friend is the most paitent, loving person I've ever met. He always finds a good trait in a person, even if that person has hurt him. He's just kind to everyone, in ways most people wouldn't even notice. He can get along with everyone, but he isn't a pushover. He holds his ground and can fight back if it comes to that. He also has a work ethic I'm jealous of..he works himself so hard to get what he wants from life. Its amazing.

The person who made a difference in my life was my 7th grade teacher. He was kind, patient, and tried every way possible to show me how to do math. I try to give to my students the same kind of patience, kindness, and understanding that my teacher gave to me.
Another person who has made and continues to make a difference in my life is a 79 year old woman who mentored me when I was in college. She tells me now to take life as it comes and to try to accept the realities of life such as growing old and not whining about aches and pains. She's always kind and a real joy to talk to. She keeps active and laugh easily. I hope to be like her when I reach her age in addition to being able to mentor someone else as she has mentored me and be a role model as well.

A former office manager, she never fired anyone, she would always say "why I just placed you in the wrong peg hole, you need to be in accounting". She was gracious and kind, a bit naive but a whole lot of good. She comes to mind when I look for those qualities. When I want to say your thru here, I can see her face and then say wrong peg hole, go to engineering.

The person that meant a lot to me in school was Mrs. Massey. She was so loving and caring. She had so much patience and unconditional love for her students. It's been 30 years...and I still have fond memories of her and speak of her to my children.

I have always admired those who seem capable of saying just the right thing, at just the right time - being involved, but remaining 'distant' from the situation. . .
Amazing trait that I can't seem to emulate!
