Because the entire social system of the Western world is built upon keeping people in their place. Only the lucky few move upward. Lucky or hard working, or smart investors, etc.
Having studied a bit about social stratification I can say that it exists in the UK, Canada, and USA, those countries I have studied as being the ones most democratic. If we have it best, I can only imagine what the worst would be like, or even a little less than we have in the Big Three of the West.

That does not sound like Aristotle. I do not recall anything like that in Aristotle.

Aristotle said : "But is there any one thus intended by nature to be a slave, and for whom such a condition is expedient and right, or rather is not all slavery a violation of nature? There is no difficulty in answering this question, on grounds both of reason and of fact. For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule."
