I really need some money right now and I was thinking of taking my laptop to the pawn shop to put it in hawk for money. In case not everyone knows how that works, basically you loan the shop something of value, they give you money for it, and you have to buy it back within a certain period of months or they keep it.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 2600, it's about three years old, it's in good condition, the plastic on the outside has a dent in it but there's no marks or damage on any important part of it. It works fine, has a wireless modem card, has the basic programs that came with it.

Could anyone give me any kind of estimate on what the average pawn shop would probably offer me? Thanks.

Not nearly as much as one would want . . .
They always pay very low - perhaps not enuf for you to seriously consider letting this machine out of your sight.
Would you let it go for $25, or less???

Maybe $25 - $35 for it. Dented case, older modeled computers are really hard to Hawk. You could post it on ebay, if you are really wanting to get rid of it. The only way to know for sure it to try a couple of pawn shops in your area!

They will give you about 25% of what they think they can sell it for. So for a three year old laptop they would probably sell it for no more than $300, so you might get $75

Make sure that you take all of your personal info and files off the computer... Someone could steal your identity if they end up buying the laptop. Good luck

About $200 dollars, if you are lucky. Computers advance so quickly that 3 year old technology is almost obsolete

worthless in a pawnshop compared to selling it - most aren't big on computers ( now if it was small enough to fit in a hawk - lol the word is HOCK )

Don't pawn. It ends up being bad karma.
