Cut her two bottem teeth back in october. Now she is trying to cut he top teeth and she makes a grinding noise with her teeth. The dentist here wont see kids till they are 1. Is the grinding normal and what can I do to make sure her teeth stay as healthy as possible? Thanks

My husband grinds his teeth, and 2 of our children do also. One is 4 1/2 and the other 9 months. From the older one, the dentists say its normal and not to worry till the permanent teeth come in. If it persists then, they may need a night time mouth guard to keep the teeth from wearing. So, dont sweat the small stuff till you really have to! Good luck.

Most babies who grind their teeth are trying to sooth their pain... but I once remember our doctor asking me (during one of our well-baby visits) whether or not my son grinded his teeth.. I asked why & she explained it may be a sign of low iron...

don't know how true that is or how the two go together but I changed doctors so my guess is this isn't quite likely.

brush her teeth twice a day if not three times. you can floss her teeth too if she allows you to. tell her no when she grinds her teeth that is not good for her. good luck

grinding teeth is normal. most kids do it. just try to give them something to bite on so they avoid it. i put my sons teethers in the fridge to cool them, he seems to like it.
