I used to work for a big estate agency in Spain and decided to go on my own after I saw what went on there, and this company is not on its own, there are many more sharks out there. Be aware especially of companies claiming to charge very small commission rates. I cannot name them for obvious reasons but they usually have a minimum charge of anything from 10,000 euros which most people don't realise.
I am based inland on the Costa Del Sol approx 30mins from Malaga airport. I work closely with a few Spanish agents who I trust and also I do not work with only one Solicitor, this is to protect my clients interests.
I have had many ups and downs in Spain and would not let my clients have the same misfortune, this is why I tell it as it is, warts and all. Once you have all the information possible you can then make your decisions. If you email me I will give you all the help and advice you need regardless if you buy on the Costa Del Sol. There are still some of us good guys out here.

http://www.portae.es/ ; http://www.fotocasa.es

I am Spanish, and thousand of people choose Spain for living because is a nice place with nice people, but of course you have to be careful with business like in UK and the rest of the world, and not crowded places are much better (but you must speak spanish)

good luck

I would not bother if I were you! The place is full of rogues, intrigists, crime etc.etc....! You will be surprised to meet Spanish people, depending upon where you choose to live of course.
Think really well before you do. My parents lived there (Altea) for 20 years and I have been there each year at least once since!

My mother was ripped off..alot of money..two weeks after my fathers cremation, from supposed friends, and they were apparently English!

Then again, if you are looking for seclusion then there are many beautiful parts, unspoiled totally and away from the main tourist spots.

Go to Benidorm on holiday before you make your decision..then email me back and let me know what you think! LMAO!!!

Good luck anyway and watch the rumanian gypsies, russki puftas, african con-artists on every beach etc. etc. etc..!
I have seen it all, but then again everyone has to see it for themselves to decide and to believe! LOL, you will think of me, believe me!

good luck anyway!
