This has got to be one of the most annoying things to do (as if doing laundry itself isn't already). Anyone have any idea?

There's no perfect way to fold fitted bedsheets, however, Martha Stewart explains how it's best done on the web page I've listed below. I was going to try to explain it myself, but she's already done it. :o)

I love this, my kids used to use the tuck and roll method! I called it the waded up mess method!
When you do your sheets, remove from dryer and lay across the bed or chair, have a decent folding area.

First fold your pillowcases...over once, smooth, over again, smooth, over again, smooth. they should look horizontal with the end opening (decorative end) on top. Approx 12-16 inches long depending on sheet and pillowcase size. The will be ---------across fold not length fold. Put those to the side.

Take your flat sheet put corner to corner, fold once, smooth, fold over again, smooth, keep up until you get a nice length wise fold.
Lay aside.

Take your fitted sheet, shake good. Make sure it it turned right side out, take your corner and run an open hand in one corner and fold the other side over onto it, lay on table or bed, take the other side of corners fold over tuck into other corner, smooth out sheet, now this will almost be a good square, but you will have some sheet that will not "fit into" the folded corners, simply fold the excess neatly in to make a sort of "square" sheet. Then you can fold over smooth, fold again and smooth, try to match the size you have your flat sheet folded to. Then you can take your flat sheet lay out length wise, lay your fitted sheet on tip of it lenght wise, then lay your pillowcases on it length wise, fold one end in to the middle, fold the other end into the middle, then fold once more and you have a nice packaged set of fresh sheets!
You can pat them down good for storage. Then when you are ready to change sheets, you have the whole set ready, you dont have to search for topsheet, bottom, and pillowcases.
Once you do this a few times it will be like riding a bike! you will snap those suckers and have them folded in no time!
I am a bit funny about my linen closet, i like all the towels and washclothes etc folded a certain way, that way they are ready to put right in the bathrooms without re-folding....it just looks nice and makes you feel good to have things in order. Now go fold that sheet, remember corners in use your open wide hand!

Fold it in half and tuck one half's corners into the other half's. Lay it out flat and make sure it is nice and flattened out. Fold again, tucking in the corners and keep being sure to flatten it out nicely. Keep folding so that the elastic corners are on the inside of your folded masterpiece. In the very least, you can hide the ugly elastic parts.

OR, never fold them and leave them in the extra room for months until you need them. Either/or.

placed your first arms interior the nook of the sheet 'pocket' on the tip of the seams on the backside on the two factors. placed the counsel of your arms mutually (your arms would be on the backside of the sheet and the elastic corners would be at your wrist) and turn your wrist as much as head the 'elastic nook' over and on real of the different sheet, devoid of shifting your fingertips. This makes a 'sq.' formed nook Now, the sheet can in fact be folded like a flat sheet! Do an identical with the different end.

you tuck the fitted corners into themselves and fold normally. like you fold the sheet in half and then you tuck one sides corners into the other then you fold nomally. Hope this helps
