First of all, forget those websites--they are useless for most women. You first need to determine if you are ovulating. Get a thermometer and go to www.fertilityfriend.com. You take your temp each morning and over the course of a cycle you can see if you are ovulating. Then, have intercourse only every other day during your fertile period--too much sex is just as bad as not enough. If you try for a year or more it's time to see your dr. Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not.
My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

stop going to web site calculators - how could a web site know exactly when you are "fertile?" And unless your ob/gyn tells you too, don't waste your money on those in home test kits either...

my ob/gyn told me that the best way to try to become pregnant is to have sex every other day, except the days when you are on your period. this way the best quality sperm is kept in fresh supply, increasing the likelyhood of conception. sperm can only live 24-48 hours, so having sex every other day insures that his supply at its peak quality (meaning more swimmers than floaters, in other words) as well as maintaining a constant flow of high quality sperm near the egg.

my husband and i did this after trying to just do the "fertile" times for about six months. after the above method for two months, I was pregnant. we have a lovely 9 month old baby now. If you are under the age of 35, and this still does not work for a full year, then check with your ob/gyn on fertility treatments and get their suggestions. if you are 35 or older, then check after 6 months of no-go.

My advice my husband and I were trying for over two and a half
years to get pregnant. I even went to the point of reading everything I could get my hands on about fertility. I even was on chlomoid for about six months I was taking my temp and charting. Well I stopped the chlomoid, stopped the charting and decided to try and not stress out so much. also we would try three to four times a week and you know what about two months later bingo I am now five weeks pregnant. just try not to stress out about and relax I know I hated that when people said it to me but you know what it really is true once you dont worry it happens
good luck to you baby dust to you

i dont know... i came off of birth control last month and haven't gotten pregnant yet.... although i think i might be now- but i wont know till i mill a period. Anyways... have you just come off of birth control? If you were on it for a long time then it will probably take you a while to get pregnant. I've read that it takes some women like 6 months to a year before they get pregnant. My advice is to just keep trying and don't give up hope. A positive attitude can make you more relaxed and possibly help you get pregnant sooner. Good luck and i hope you get pregnant soon...!f

I've had the same problem. I also tried tracking my fertile days, but the biggest thing for me was to make sure that I was actually ovulating. So you have the egg white discharge? If not, then you probably are not ovulating like you think you are. Try checking with your doctor if things don't progress, it could always be your partner's sperm too.

the main thing you need to do for trying to conceive would be to stop trying to have a baby and have fun. i was in the same boat as you and im still not pregnant. the only difference i have from you in that i have pcos. if you and your husband are fertile and you have fun while having sex, then i guarantee you'll get pregnant.
