I'm wondering when you think someone can be called an adult or 'grown-up' , whether it's a certain age, or after you've had certain experiences. And what age are you, do you consider yourself to be an adult?

I'm 32... you are an adult when you regularly think and act for people besides yourself and make decisions besed on more than your immediate needs and desires. By this definition I know children who are 65 and adults who are 10. Guess it doesn't help much.

Well the age of majority (adulthood) differs from place to place , even province to province within a coutnry like canada or state to state in the us.

In Ontario 19 is the age of majority, but you can vote at 18, join the armed forces at 18, marry etc., however you have to be 19 to gamble or drink.

Legislatures like to change the legal age at a whim or when they think young people are not acting responsibly.

How do you know when someone is an adult, hard question. I know people in the 40s plus that I'd be hard pressed to call adults despite their age.

I think you're an adult when you are responsible for your actions and all the consequences, can provide yourself with some kind of a living , make intelligent decisions in one's life after learning from school or past experiences.

You take your responsibility to others and yourself seriously but aren't overly obsessive about it.

I'm 52.

At what are is someone an adult? Well, naturally at 18 years of age one is considered an adult..an adult able to drink is 21 years of age. Some people are so immature you wonder if they will ever grow up.

I am 47 years old. Am I grown up? Yes...but, even though the body is aging...I still feel the same as I did inside as I did when I was 18. I still like to goof off, play and horse around. The thing is... now, to realize when it is appropriate to do such things!

I don't think that it's an age. I think that when you can be said to be taking care of yourself without the financial aid of others and taking responsibility for all of you actions, you could be considered an adult. Some would argue that you're not an adult until you have married and had children.

I am a 41-year-old female. I didn't really consider myself an adult until I was nearly 30!

Now, this is a trick question.

I'm 43 and I think I am an adult.

Certainly an answer could be, I am an adult when I mature. But, mature into what, a butterfly?

If you have the ability to be introspective, to understand your motivations, to analyze your actions before you act...then you are becoming an adult.

Physically maturing, having the ability to reproduce or make your own decisions, does not necessarily make you an adult.

I believe, that when most young adults ask this question, on their own, they are in the first stages of becoming an adult. But...Wait, it will happen. Don't be in a hurry to "do your own thing" cause honey...being an adult involves...the "R" word. Responsibility.

I am 24, but I have considered myself an adult every since I moved out on my own and have taken care of myself,,,I think actions make you an adult rather than age.....good question I at the age of 18 met the man who is now my husband he had 3 kids already who I have taken care of since day one, and we now share two children of our own and have been married for almost 4 years.....Some would say 18 was too young, but I felt I was a women then

You become an adult when you are self-reliant. You live on your own, pay your own rent, food have a job, ect. It dosen't matter what age you are... as soon as you accept the responsibilities of an adult, you become one. You can move out at 16 in some states, so it could be as early as 16, or you could live in your parents basement until you turn 40.

legally in the UK and many other countries it's 18. Emotionally, some people never get there. I'm 42, I've been allowed adult status for many years. I have a daughter who is an adult by most people's definition. I do sometimes question if I should have been allowed it, but most people have their childish moments so what the hell.

18 and above is considered an adult. But sometimes age does not denote maturity. Some persons are young but think like and adult and vice versa.
