It might be drastically improved if the benefits system was easier for people to claim when they genuinely needed it, full stop!
Also, I think a lot of homelessness might be prevented by the addition of more low cost/affordable rents on housing

My husband and I worked with the homeless in a large metropolitan city. The issues are complex. It is true there are people who use the disguise of homelessness to take advantage of sympathetic people. However, there are many who find themselves in circumstances not of their own making. Abused, abandoned, victims of unfortunate events, these people are the ones who we (the general public) rarely hear about. Access to a safe place, a proper place to bathe, re-education (especially for women abandoned with no skills), are some of the basic things people need to get off the street and back into a productive lifestyle. Many other kinds of concerns surround what to do about the chronically homeless. It is not a simple problem.

Feed them to all the starving people. Then you solve two problems in one.

Seriously, apathy is the biggest problem. Not everyone cares enough. If we all worked together and started making changes things would be better.

Low cost housing would go a long way. I was blown away when I learned how many of the US's homeless have jobs but can't afford a place to live.

A book for you to read is "Street Lawyer" by John Grisham. Was badly written and boring, his typical crap but it's about the plight of the homeless and what some people are doing.

EDIT: Yeah, Ramall, re-distrubution of weath, it will be a great day when that happens. Maybe not so much for Ol' Red One as Hell would freeze over.

properly consistent with economic concept in an attempt to shrink homelessness what ought to be performed is for the government to intrude into the economic gadget to grant those homeless with the essential centers (eg. Housing shelters, scientific establishments etc). whether homelessness is likewise seen a consequent of poverty for which very nearly each economic gadget faces and consistent with economic assumptions to shrink poverty the government would desire to intrude.

I think one thing that would drastically reduce homelessness is the government to stop giving our houses to asylum seekers. They need to stop looking after every country and start taking a good look at ours and realise that we are heading to third world status.

There are many reasons this can't be done (tax and financial) and they would still be homeless. Training and education is the best way to eliminate this problem.

All a question of greed. The rich have it and dont' want to part with any of it for the poor to live. Get rid of the greed and you get rid of the homeless.

Just after the ww2 prefabricated houses were erected in large numbers all over the country. although small they were adequate and quite 'cosy'. (not suitable for large families) However would they not be suitable as a 'stepping stone' for young MARRIED couples who are working towards their dream home.
