Hi everyone, would appreciated if someone can answer my doubt.

The PS2 to USB converter in question are those that can allow an USB mouse to be used on a PS2 port on a PC. I tried plugging in my thumbdrive into the converter, and the thumbdrive would not work. Anyone can provide technical answer to proof it will not work is very much welcomed. If u actually made the thumbdrive work using the converter, please tell me too. Is it possible at all?

Thank you to everyone who answered, attempted to answer or had given a thought about the question! :D

Ok that wont work for a myriad of reasons, the ps2 port isnt read for usb type devices so even if you got the power and data to work it wouldnt ever be recognized.
here are two pinoyts you can see they are not compatible

If you have an older computer that you want to make use compatible there are lowcost usb cards that you can add usb ports, make sure that the operating system supports usb, windows 95 not really, late verwsions of windows 98 just barely with the correct drivers.

It's not possible.

Essentially two reasons...

A mouse is a very low-demaind serial device and a PS/2 port is pretty low spec. A USB memory device isn't low-demand and needs a USB bandwidth to deliver anything sensible by way of throughput. What's a mouse? a few hundred bits per second? That would be tens of bytes a second... the order of a Kbyte a minute... you'd die of boredom copying your MP3 files over that.

The drivers expect to talk to USB memory devices over the USB line. There isn't a driver that expects to talk to memory cards over the PS/2 port.

There may even be an electrical reason... like the ps/2 to USB isn't just a piece of wiring... I've never cut one up. Even if it is just a bunch of wires the two above will sink using a USB memory stick on the PS/2 port.

The usb drive needs power to work and the ps2 port does not supply that.

The converter is good enough to make a keyboard or mouse work but that is all.
