Not at all. Any chance Troy Smith had in going in the 1st round of the NFL draft went out the window. I have never seen anyone potentially lose as much money in one game as I think he did last night. How embarrassing.

I agree with you that those AREN'T Heisman numbers, if you ignore that the Heisman is a popularity contest in which case the numbers don't matter. On the other hand look at Brady Quinn, who was the other favored one. So yeah both had really terriable bowl games. Now with Smith you could say he had one bad game this year. Just makes you wish he was going to play an SEC team next year to see if it was a bad game or if this year was about the schedule.

No they aren't Heisman numbers. I must be critical. Your best players to be recognized as great must bring their best performances when the championship is on the line. Troy Smith and his offensive line did not do this last night. They couldn't deal with Florida's speed. I have been telling people that this would happen. OSU fans have short memories. They completely disregarded the fact that Michigan hung 39 points on them. OSU has no defense. They also dismissed the fact that a talent lacking Illinois, coached by Ron Zook, held them to 17 points. You don't think Florida was talking to him? I have to assume they run the same type of defensive scheme also.

I have always felt that the Heisman Trophy should be awarded after the championship game because so much emphasis is placed on how well the candidate plays in big games. Duh, the championship game usually has one or two of the leading candidates vying for the trophy. Would Smith or Quinn have won it after their performances? I think not.

Although, I must add- where were the Mighty Longhorns? Oh lookie there- 13th place, behind 3 Big Least teams, too.
Losing to Kstate, which lost to Rutgers of all teams! Oh...and A&M- wow that had to hurt....but probably not as bad as the OSU loss...huh?

they are pretty consistent w/ most other heisman winners in championship games. Smith didn't play against any good defenses until title game either.

Gee...Suckeyes looked real sucky running the Longhorns out of your own stadium. Sour grapes now, you be gracious in loss and you are in victory. I'm from Michigan and I hate the Buckeyes, but I respect great teams when I see one.
