in short, no they don't. You can lessen them by working out and tanning, using creams before, during and after pregnancy may help lessen how sever they are, but they are hereditary and most likely if your mother had them then you will too. Just remember them as a wonderful reminder that you are blessed to be able to create life.

Hi there,
It's easy to freak out about stretch marks after childbirth, but don't worry. There are solutions. You just need to determine how much they bother you and what you're willing to do to get rid of them. If stretch marks are mild enough, topical creams such as cocoa butter or Sti-Vectin may work before and after birth...but everyone is different. Genetics play a big factor and most often, creams aren't good long term solutions. That being said, there are a few more treatments that can possibly work for you.
First there's microdermabrasion treatments in conjunction with topical treatments. The microderm's aluminum oxcide crystals will buff out the ridges and even out skin tone, and the topical cream with soften and conditioin the skin.
You may also want to try a laser treatment available through a cosmetic surgeon, laser clinic or medspa. Make sure you choose a specialist who is certified. During a consultation (most are free) any reputable doctor or certified specialist should let you know exacty what you can expect before treatment. Completely elimination stretch marks is difficult, however, treatment can greatly reduce or fade them.
Oh...and one more thing. It's best to get treatment as soon as possible because the older your stretch marks are, the harder they are to fade. Check out the link below for specialists in your area. Hope this helps!

stretch marks will never go away but like everyone said they will fade then they are not so bad. But you got them by doing to greatest thing in the world having a baby. Don't be a shame of it.

My stretch marks never went away from having my first baby and he is 35 years old. Some of them faded away. I tried alot of different creams but nothing really worked for me. Over time they will fade out like mine did. I really don't think that there is anything that will work. All the creams did for me was make my stomach soft. My favorite one was baby oil.

Sorry but the stretch marks stay but after time they do fade so they dont look so rough! I am covered in them especially after having a big baby last time. I dont bother with the creams so I cant comment on whether or not they work.

do you have stretch marks from puberty still? if so then your skin is prone to having stretch marks and there's not much you can do about it. i have the type of skin that rarely bounces back from stretching and i have a lot of stretch marks. there are some products that reduce the look of the stretchmark but it will ulimatley be there. of course, your tummy will shink down to about the same size it was before but i doubt your stretchmarks will completely go away.

Some will go away, but not all of them. They are like little scars in the skin, especially if you scratched your belly alot while pregnant. Keep it moisturized with cocoa butter and that should help heal the scars. I spend the money on stivectin and found no better results than I received with cocoa butter. Good luck!

They all have a possibility of weight gain side effect and guess what... YES WEIGHT GAIN CAUSES STRETCH MARKS... So I would suggest you stick to condoms and hope they work... But yes Im just slapping a whole bunch of palmers cocoa butter and trying not to gain too much weight right now, and drinking lots of water. Good Luck

Few stretch marks will go away. Most do not. The "miracle creams" can help fade them though.

They are there to stay, the creams may help the color fade a little but the marks will always be there. There is a laser treatment that can help some but it iis very expensive.
