It sounds like something Dorothy Parker might have said but I can't find an attribution in any of my books of quotations. I have carved this saying in slate five times and people keep asking me who said it origionally.

I used to own a Tshirt that stated that " Housework done correctly can kill you!"

Worked for me!!! Have lived by that motto ever since.

The quote 'A clean house is a sign of a wasted life' is on loads of signs, fridge magnets etc, some dating from the 50s, but no sign of who said it!
I like the similar one 'My idea of cleaning is to sweep the room with a glance'!

Sounds like a Quinten Crisp quote. I know he was famous for not doing cleaning of any kind and also was on record as saying "After 5 yrs the dust does not get any deeper"

I have no idea, but I'm always keeping a clean room and I'm beginning to get worried now. I make time for other things, mind you, but I guess the moments it takes me to clean wastes my life, I guess.

All I can say is that he or she is spot on. I err towards Quentin Crisp, who holds that if you can keep your nerve for the first 7 years, dusting is not a problem as it won't get any worse.

I not sure who said it, but, they must have been talking about my Aunt. She never goes anywhere except work and is always cleaning and rearranging her house. ;-)
