No, this is a wives tale. Somepeople believe you can tell by how low the baby is on you, or by the severity of your morning sickness. These are all wives tales. There is not an external way to tell if you are having a boy or a girl. The only way is by ultrasound or Amniocentesis at about 12 weeks or later. See below:

It's one of the first things that everyone asks a pregnant woman: Is it a boy or a girl?

Throughout history, many parents didn't want to wait until the actual birth to find out. They'd wave crystals over the mother or consult the stars. They'd hang a ring over the mother's tummy or measure the baby's heart rate -- and have a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly.

Now, of course, there are much more accurate ways to determine gender before a baby is born. If you're at least 12 weeks pregnant, your doctor can probably tell you the sex of your baby with a high degree of confidence. That is, if you really want to know.

No. I never had a hairy belly [or even stretchmarks! TYJ] but I did have ALL sons.

Seems like that is more a genetic thing. For some reason I can only picture exotic women with olive skin tones.

No,it dosent mean your going to have a boy! Some females body hair darkens or thickens during pregnancy due to the change in hormones. Many women get thicker and darker hair which is like a line running from your navel to your pubic area. You can also get darker spots of skin on various parts of your body during pregnancy.Wish that was an indicator for a boy as im expecting my 3rd child and would love a boy!!

That's simply an old wives' tale. They have a 50% chance of being right or wrong, so of course you might believe them if they turn out to be "true." However, a baby's sex is not determined by the amount of hair on your body or the way a thread swings from a needle on a pencil; it's all genetics and in the hands of a Higher Being.

If you didn't have a hairy belly before and you have one during pregnancy, it's because your hormones are running wild.
