Its a beautiful sounding word for a name
But aren't you asking for it a bit by calling your child that?
Of course if it was true that someone was called Riot there is likely to be a very good reason for it. I can't hazard a guess right now but no doubt there is a scenario where that would be appropriate.
Statistically speaking there's a very good chance that someone out there is called 'Riot' even if the word for his name isn't an english one.
I can just imagine the kid being introduced to his boss for the first time, or his girlfriends parents hearing about him...
what if it was a girl that was called Riot?
Still... having said all that it is an unfortunate name, and I have a lot of sympathy with bearers of unfortunate names given my own.

I like Riot. That's a fun name and I think he'll like it as he gets older. Believe me, it's not nearly as bad as some of the names Iv'e heard (I work in a nursery). One family chose the name Female, pronounced like "Tamale", because the name band said it. They liked the 'name.' Another named their kid 'ABCDE,' pronounced "Absodee." Another Satan Lucifer. I know scary! Believe me, Riot is the least of your problems. Just be glad he doesn't like the band Metallica. Yes, believe it. A little girl is walking around somewhere with the name of a 90s grunge band.

Well I think its better than rot or root ! Come on that is the silliest a name Ive ever heard . I mean the kid has to live it that name the rest of life .

I probably wouldn't say anything. I have a cousin who named her son Cougar, after John Cougar Mellancamp. Go figure

wow, it's seams that people will do anything to get attn. including subject there kids to long suffering. every one is always trying to be unique, and instead there making asses of themselves and the people they love.
