Yes. Pregnancy is counted by Last Menstual Period(LMP). From the first day of your last period. 40 weeks from that date is your due date.

Yes. The first day of your period is considered "Day 1" (the beginning) of your cycle. If you should become pregnant during that cycle, then the doctors would date your pregnancy from your "Day 1", in other words, the first day of your last period prior to conception. It seems a little odd that you are considered "pregnant" a couple of weeks or so before the actual conception takes place, but it makes a bit more sense if you begin thinking of your period as being at the beginning of the new cycle instead of the end (I know the temptation is to think of the period as "the end" of the cycle instead).

Day 1 of your last period counts as the first day of your cycle. So typically, in a 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs around day 14. That's how you count it out when trying to get pregnant.
When calculating pregnancy and due date, it's based the same way. It's counted from the first day of your last period. So although you technically got pregnant two weeks after that date (because that's when you ovulate), they count it from the start date of the last period. So your due date is 40 weeks from the first day of your last period.

There are 2 ways a pregnancy is dated--the first is called gestational age and it starts the first day of your period. This is the most common day to date a pregnancy. The second is called fetal age--it is from the time of conception or about 2 weeks after the start of your period.

Yes. The way most doctors and website (like www.babycenter.com) calculate your due date is to start at the first day of your last menstrual period. So, if your last period started on December 5, today you would be 5 weeks pregnant.

Yes, the week of your period is considered week 1 of being pregnant. So when you miss your first period you are already 4 weeks pregnant.

Your pregnancy starts when the egg is fertilized. This can happen 0-5 days or so after having sex. So the first week you had a fertilized egg in your uterus is the first week of pregnancy.
