Denver is under snow, yet people are helping each other to get food, to get cars out of snowbanks, to get medicine to those that need it. Florida has seen hurricanes every year since the beginning if time, the norhtheast was recently flooded, wildfires have hit the west anually . HOW DID THESE PEOPLE MANAGE WITHOUT GOVERNMENT AID? During Katrina relief workers were shot at because the natives wanted a mob rules situation. how stupid do you have to be to steal sneakers in a hurricane or kill for a plasma screen?

ATTN TBone- Yes they are Americans in need but they are that way by choice! These are people to lazy to have their government checks forwarded.

To tell the truth, that was the exception, not the rule. Pictures of people shooting at helicopters are much more exciting than pictures of people sweating on their front porch, dreaming of nothing nicer than a glass of lemonade and some air conditioning.
Florida did have government aid, as I have heard stories of people there stuck in FEMA trailers.
I'm not sure if the northeast, Denver, and the western wildfire areas got any government assistance (you say they didn't), but do please remember where the poorest area in the nation is. I know several of my friends are on assisted lunch, and mostly everything that they own was someone else's once or was given to them.
A few people out of a million make all of us in Mississippi and Louisiana look bad. To tell the truth, most of us were dreaming of somewhere nice and cool and a bag of ice, not shooting at people trying to bring ice to us.
I never felt the need to steal sneakers or a plasma screen TV. I just wanted someone to get ice down to our neighbors who were undertakers that literally had dead bodies stacked in their yard in the 90 degree, humid weather.

Fema Failed They were totally over whelmed. the rest of America just couldnt believe what they were seeing and didnt respond well. the shootings !
they were from people that were protecting their property, from looters who were trying to servive the National Guard was no where to be found Police in New Oleans didnt report for work as required by law, it was helter skelter. If you were there as a volunteer you would have seen .
as our groups of repair workers from Canada did. We sent food and it was there the very next morning many many truck loads of food and water, mr . Straunach from Canada built an entire town of new homes for free. and we have been going there and helping them rebuild.
There is still a lot more to do get down there and help them out they are Americans in need.?

A lot of that s/hit wasn't true; the media put on a lot of false reports, so I wouldn't be so quick to lament how civilized white people are.
Edit: Reports of the Super Dome (or whatever its called) descending into chaos were exaggerated, yet all over the news amidst the disaster. If that's the case, why the hell should I believe any of the other sensational stories regarding Hurricane Katrina? Do you people take everything you see on TV as fact? B/c you probably shouldn't.

People from New Orleans/ and Louisiana in general, are a different bunch. They are not like any other group I have ever seen.

I don't know, then they wanted to cry about not getting help. Crap I wouldn't want to help either if I was going to get shot at by the very people that I was there to rescue.
And yes they were shooting at the helicopters coming to rescue them, I don't want to hear they weren't.

They were helped so fast because they were white if you really wanna know the truth, yesh they were taking things that they couldn't use, but they were also getting things that they needed, be real if those people were white they would have gotten to them alot sooner then they did. Yeah Fla does, but was it ever that bad to were everything was under water, no I don't think so.
