it should start to come down within the hour. you can give tylenol and advil. i found advil/motrin worked better for my daughter than tylenol. You can also put her in a cool bath to help the fever. its extremely scary, i remember my daughter being like that, and we just had to let it run it's course. You can alternate between tylenol and advil. Every FOUR hours. for eg. at 9:30 advil, 1:30 tylenol, 5:30 advil, 9:30 tylenol etc. Good luck. It wont hurt her because these medications work on two different systems and you will NOT overdose your baby if you give the proper amounts indicated on the boxes.

I understand your concern, I am the mother of three, and this is really a common thing. If the fever reducing meds don't work, and they do sometimes take as long as an hour, then you could try taking her down to just her diaper and wiping her down with a damp cloth. The water evaporating of her skin should bring her temp down pretty fast. I brought my daughters fever down from 104 to 100 in 10 minutes without meds using this technique. A severe reaction would have more than just a fever, you would see a rash and possibly severe swelling. Best of luck

I recommend calling your doctor. Some don't approve of giving any sort of fever reducers in babies under 6 months old. How high is the fever? What and how much did you give her? Our doctor recommends bringing in the child if there is a fever of 100.4 or higher (rectally).
Having received her shots could certainly trigger a fever, but again it depends on how high and what your doctor's protocols are as far as how to treat it. Typically any fever reducing meds that i've given our baby have brought the fever down in an hour or so.

First make sure that the dose was high enough. If you aren't sure get your pediatrician to double check against her weight. Depending on how high her fever is, ask your dr. about "piggybacking" acetametaphen and ibuprophin. Most of the time it can be done with no problem. Basically you administer the acetametaphin first and then 1 to 2 hours later you administer the ibuprophin. Our son was big for his age at 4 months and that was the only thing that worked for us. Also make sure your daughter is hydrated - medications work better when you are not dehydrated- an d feverish babies don't always nurse as much as they should.

Make sure you check with the doctor before piggybacking, or taking other unorthadox steps. If your doc is not responsive to your concerns or does not help- change docs. Its always important that they are supportive of you and your child's comfort and safety.

Best wishes!

what's the temp? relies upon if this is a low or intense grade fever. If this is a hundred and one.5 or greater i could prob take to wellbeing facility, under that i could supply motrin/tylenol and fill to the 1st line on the dropper-my dr had mentioned that replaced into ok. Is it in terms of teething? you additionally can supply a lukewarm tub! What do you recommend what are you meant to do while baby gets 2mo vaccines?

Alot of times with my kids when they have a fever I throw them in the tub. It brings down there fever and seem to feel a ton better after they get out. WARNING> Sometimes they will feel too much better and wear themselves right back out, make sure when kids are older they go right back to resting!! A 4 month old you wouldn't have to worry as much but it really does help.

Lots of babies get cranky right after shots. Tylenol should work, just give it time. If her temp is still high after several hours I might call back and ask the doc what they think. I sometimes give Tylenol before the shots just in case.

For this one, you should call the doc. She is having an allergic reaction. While it is common to have a reaction to immunizations, different children react in different ways. It could be serious. Check her temp. If it is over 99.6, call the doc. If it doesn't change, call the doc.

Tylenol is best and should work within 20-30 minutes.
