If you are talking about the song from the 1950's, sung by Jimmy Dean, about a miner who gave his life while 30 trapped miners scrambled to safety....NO.
I remember asking my father the same question as we listened in the car on the AM radio.... in the 1950's ! or 60's?? i forget.
You should try to find a copy of the PARODY song of Big Bad John... it was called SHORT SAD SAM. very funny.
