Grab a piece of wood, and the tiniest nails you can find. With a hammer fill the piece of wood with as many nails as you possibly can. When you are done take the nails out one by one.
Even if they were the tiniest of nails they will leave that piece of wood full of holes, unless you decide to use some fillers and bring that piece of wood to it's old glory.
White lies are those nails, the wood a person's reputation, the fillers, the good word someone spreads after forgiveness.

There is no such thing as a "white lie" - in my opinion. A lie is a lie. Sometimes telling the truth isn't very easy to do, but I think it's much more difficult to tell a lie. Once you've told that lie, you have to keep living it. Right? I don't believe in the religion around Karma, but I do believe in this... You can only be a bad person for so long before it catches up with you. In other words, what goes around, comes around. A white lie can be the start of someone's downward spiral. It's best to just stay truthful to yourself and others. No matter how much it may hurt. To me, it would hurt a lot more to know that I've lost someone's respect over a "white lie".
