I have an indoor palm tree that is just about touching the ceiling with a stem that is a good 6 feet. Can I cut the top off without killing the plant? It only has leaves at the top so I will be left with a stem in dirt wondering if it will form new leaves?

Dear Gemstar 20, I just typed in topping palm trees into the web search and from what they say it is not a good idea, but they were talking about palms in landscape design. I have accidently broken and removed a palm branch and it grew new fronds, mabe you can kinda bend the branch so it will angle down,gently stake it with some stakes in the dirt and a pair of pantyhose for the tie, sounds crazy right. Hope you can figure out what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
