product design - marrakech project?

i have to do a product design project relating to marrakech, what should i do / base my project on.

Look at islamic pattern theory..unlike western pattern theory which works by square tiles making up the repeat, islamic art uses a triangle...cos they fit together into a hexagram, which inturn fits together like tiles...making the patterns vastly more complex than western patterns. the reason for this is cos in islamic art you are not allowed really to show images of living creatures other than plants, so they had to devise a more complex pattern forming code than us in the west to allow them to be more creative with the limitation of subject material....its truely beautiful (And before any yank goes mental and starts attacking me for promoting islamic art...I am a westerner!....just open minded!)

If you put marrakech into wikipedia, there is a section on what handicrafts and businesses are in the souks. This may give you some ideas. Then google anything you are interested in, which should give you products and their designs - and take it from there!
