I have approx 30 items opened under the "processes" tab of "window task manager". They appear to change frequently. How can I get rid of them or most of them? Do they affect they way my computer work if I get rid of them?

Hi
I'm not sure where exactly you are looking but if you press F1 while looking at this page you will open the Microsoft Internet Explorer and you can find how to do many things there.

In Tools/Internet Options you can click as follows:
To use Windows display settings on Web page controls

In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

On the Advanced tab, select the Use Windows display settings on Web page controls check box. Note for more information on Windows display settings, see Windows help.

Anything you switch on or off in here will not hurt your computer.

It's quite risky to stop processes using Windows Task Manager unless you can recognize the programs by the file names. I suggest you download and install AVG Anti Spyware(formerly Ewido) 30 days trial version.Even after the trial is over it will still show you the active processes together with their icons and program names(in Analysis Menu). Only the automatic updates and resident shield will stop working. You can update it yourself manually. This will make it easier to know what processes you are stopping. ..Windows Defender is even more clearer in categorizing the running processes. It even shows the publishers' names of the programs. Hope this helps.
