My son doesn't do well in school. He has a.d.d. and on meds. but he still seems to get bad grades. All he wants to do is play xbox or be on his computer and he is lazy by staying up late and sleeping in late. He is grounded half the time because he has poor grades and never brings home school work and he is frustrating me completely and I do not know what to do. I tried doing it where for every piece of homework you bring home and work on it for a half hour it's traded for that amount of time on the xbox but I found that wasn't even working because he wasn't really doing the work. And math these day is really hard because I never touched it when I was in school. There is more but....I just can't get him to grow up I have to tell him to do everything. Even get out of bed for school

There is no point in worrying about this and coming up with temporary remedies such as rewarding him or bribing him into doing something.
See the thing is that he is probably just not interested in studies,
for this you must get involved in his studies.
Study with him, help him with his homework.Alto a time for you and your son to sit and discuss school.Ask him about all the activities that happen in school, talk about his friends.
Take him on field trips to provide a practical backing to all that he studies in school.
make charts with him to simplify his subjects.
encourage him to watch educational programmers on TV.
Try mixing his pas sons and studies together.
As in if he is inters ted in computers, you could ask him to write an Essy on computers or something of that sort.
have discussions and debates at home.
And math, maybe you should try getting him a tutor for math,
but even if you hire a tutor, try working with him,to plan out his lessons ,watch is progress.
Last but not the least don't force him to do something he doesn't want.
Try to developr on his strong points.
Encourage him to discover and explore new things so he can develope more interest.

well...your son is just like all other 16 year olds. im 16 so i know where he's coming from. too lazy to do 'stupid' school work. maybe he thinks that school is a waste of time and just wont do the work because he thinks that it isnt beneficiary. u shudnt try to bribe him to do the work because that isnt going to make him believe that he really needs the work. its like saying i'll pay you to go to school. try to show him the positive things about school. i used to be the same. sleeping late, on the phone all night, going to school late, but then i realized that that wasnt the right thing because how am i going to get to college...so basically just show him why school is important and all the benefits he can get from it

maybe he will do better if u take him off try and see wat happens
