He may be rich and powerful, but since he is the head of a religious order within the Catholic Church, albeit the largest one, he cannot logically be the richest, most powerful man in the world. The Pope is his superior, so he is not even the most powerful man in the Catholic Church, let alone the world. Similarly, although the Jesuit order may be very wealthy, that wealth is effectively just a part of the much greater weatlh of the Church as a whole.
