Usually men specify women as "females" when it's in a derogatory text. For example"
"Yeah, I got together with these two females and f*cked both of them"
They usually use it when they are too egotistical or what not to say "woman", but still too afraid of being slapped by mama if they say "b*tches"

Well most of the time they simply say it out of sarcasm. Also because if they don't say female, people often think the person they're refering to is a guy. But it doesn't really matter.

I call us "females" ~ are you going to beat me up for it? would it be best if I talked like you? ~ cause I'm not; I'm going to continue using the term "female".
