Boston, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Salt Lake City, LA, Houston. All these would make excellent tourist destinations as they are not in the "mainstream" tourist hotspots! ASnd would be a welcome change, and would get British and other forgien tourists to see more of the country than just one city.

The last time I went I visited the music capitals, Nashville the home of the Grand ol Opre and country music. New Orleans has Bourbon St and Cajun jazz ( Katrina paid a visit shortly after and made a mess ). Memphis for Rhythm and Blues and of coarse the home of Elvis Presley's Gracelands. On travelling between these places I met some lovely people who are the true Americans, not the ones with painted on smiles for the tourist. If your going I bet you will love America and its people wherever you go.

Ive been to NYC, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Vegas, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and Sacramento and they are all fantastic. Vegas is definatly one of a kind, you have to see it to believe it! Chicago is great for architecture and art and shopping. DC is great for the Mall, whitehouse and all that government pomp etc. San Francisco has lots to see too and is very picturesque, Seattle is kinda similar too, very clean and fresh feeling to it. Two smaller less well known cities I would really love to see are Savannah and Charleston in Georgia and South Carolina, ive heard alot of good things about them and they are steeped in colonial history, apparently! those two cities along with Boston and Philadelphia are next on my list. Every city is different and im sure wherever you go you will like it! :D

I'm from NY but I prefer Boston, MA. They have done a great job of preserving their history - the walking tour is great, just leave climbing the monument at Bunker Hill for a second day! Great seafood restaurants everywhere, and you can't beat Union Oyster House for ambiance!

I live near Seattle, Washington. It's a beautiful area, and there is a lot to do and learn. We're not too far from the Pacific ocean, and likewise not far from the Cascade mountain range, so there's always something to do outdoors.
