Hello, I'm from a small town in Georgia and we say Soda. I once heard my Aunt from Michigan say Soda Pop and I was like what in the world is she talking about. My mother quickly explanined to me that soda and soda pop were the same.

Where I live in south eastern Michigan, USA most people say Pop. Unless they are implanted from somewhere else. Not too many of those since Michigan is tied with North Dakota for the state with the most people pulling up roots and moving somewhere else.

Soda for mineral water
Soda pop for flavored
Tonic for tonic water for mixed drinks (vodka tonic, gin and tonic)
Not sure where I got these, but those are the ones I've always used... I live in Mexico but attended a bilingual, bicultural (i.e. American) school here
