Pompeii was resort town without much industry, and the economy catered to a wealthy and leisured clientele (hence the huge brothel complexes that are larger than Ostia's, and Ostia was a port town with a population of 120,000).
The market would have been full of foodstuffs, cloth, scrolls (books), luxuries from around the empire like spices, jewels, silks, glass, rugs, furniture, slaves, etc. The market would also have been the place to contract services like hiring an artist to paint a mural or commission a sculpture or consult a lawyer. And of course they had urns! What do you think olive oil, wine, fish sauce, etc came in! And the Greeks are not a tribe!
The Roman economy was amazingly diverse and modern, but dutch is incorrect in saying they would have had tobacco. Tobacco was a New World crop that was first imported by the Spanish in the early 16C.

Hi there. The shops and market stalls sold prety much everything needed for a basic lifestyle. Whatever we have, they had their equivalent, human needs being ever the same. Food, drink, clothing, pots (yes, including urns!). The main difference would be slaves instead of some appliances, but this would be similar to us buying a car or horse!
Cheers, Steve.
