Pilot lite will not stay on.

Could be your flame sensor needs to be replace (called a dielectric) It is the small wire or tube which follows your gas line from the control valve to the area of the pilot light. It sits in the end of the pilot flame and send a signal back to the control valve that the flame is lit and to keep sending gas. When it goes bad, it does not send the signal and the control valve cuts off the gas.

You probably need a new thermocouple to keep the pilot from going out. They are not expensive and are pretty easy to change if you can get to the tank easily.
