go to the local jobcentre and speak to the girl at the counter, she will take your details, give you advice on pay etc, and if there is not a person suitable on the booke at oresent, she will advertise on the board for you. References are very important, an older, local person is good, so ask around, especially if you know many local people. there are au pair agencies in all thedirectories, who have girls wanting to do what you need, do not take somebody too young, as the children must be safely cared for. Or you could advertise in the local newspaper, or the Lady magazine. Do you not have a relative who could help?.

Someone that has experience with both children and housework. Do a thorough background check to make sure this person isn't a thief or a child pedophile.
Request references, when you speak to the references ask them how was the person work ethnics and most importantly why does that person no longer work for them.
Some People tend to use friends and family as work references if they are trying to hide something, so be careful.
Last but not least give that person a trial period. See how well they work with your family and most importantly how your children reacts with them.

Might be a good idea to go through an agency to ensure the person is legit. Nannies require no police checks, but you can commmision one on your prospective employee if you want for around £40, although this will take a while to come through- obviously this is more or less important depending whether you wish to leave her alone with your children. Check her references thoroughly, ask her questions relating to incidents and check how she would deal with them, ensure you have similar views about discipline etc. Make it clear what duties you expect from her before she starts eg. I once worked with a family where one of my jobs was to walk the dogs- this was fine by me, but others may have been less pleased, see her spend time with your children- get her to play a game, or go to the park with her before you commit to employing her. Good luck

1. They must have a car (for emergencies).
2. They must have a clean criminal record.
3. They must list at least 3 references, non-family, that you can check.
4. They must have a cheery disposition, rosy cheeks, and are willing to play games. (LOL Sorry, I had to throw that one in!)
5. Go with your gut...if anything seems off about anyone you interview, just remember, these are your kids you're talking about...move on to the next contestant.

Do interviews, get references and social security numbers and have the local law enforcement check on the SS number. If she has a record or any kind, they can tell you. When it comes to the kids, safety is the only way. Good luck

Place an advert in a shop window.
or in the local paper..
Ask for 2 references and check these out.
They will need to be checked out with police as they are working with children.
Good luck

Blonde, mini skirt, likes a giggle, and is obedient. Just joking. I would go to an agency. If there are any bad problems you have somewhere to go back to. Unless you know the person it is difficult to trust anyone with your kids at first. At least with an agency they will have been vetted in some way. The most important things are whether she will get on with your wife, and that she has been cleared for working with children.

Check out references don't just look at them.At the same time you will find out if previous employer was happy with her services
I myself would probably install a nanny cam because I find it hard to trust strangers with my kids, its to late afterwards
Also i would insist on a trial basis to make sure the children get along with them and your happy with her work, but that's just me
Do a criminal check most important when working with children

Most women do housework, look after the kids AND go to work. Tell her she is a lazy cow and to get a life.
