Again with the American is better/worse!
I've had enough!
Its chocolate. The posher and more famous it is. The more disgusting it tastes.
As for American chocolate tasting worse? Don't make me laugh! Don't you know that 3 of the worlds largest exporters of chocolate are American?
As a English person I guess I shouldn't like the Yanks for the attitudes at least but....
I
Don't
Care

I prefer European chocolate as that's what I'm used to.
American chocolate traditionally uses sour milk and European chocolate traditionally uses fresh milk.
The origin of this dates back to when milk was shipped from the mid-west to Hershey's factory in Pennsylvania. As refrigeration technology hadn't become common at that time milk would tend to sour in the trains in transit to the factory.
Later when refrigerated milk waggons became common place Hershey's switched to fresh milk, but many customers complained as they had grown to love the slightly sour taste of Hershey's milk chocolate. So funnily enough Hershey's reverted to sour milk deliberately, which gives it the different flavour.

I've never tried American chocolate, but I've been told European chocolate is somewhat sweeter than it's American counterpart!

to judge a chocolate, look to see how much cocoa solids there is in it. Everyone has a different taste and so will prefer different blends but you will find that American choc is generally so low in cocoa solids that it is really usually what they call candy and not chocolate at all!!

LOL, I live in Switzerland, need I say more!
Try American chocolate now and again, this will help you appreciate the pure delight of Swiss chocolate!
But, combined with McDonalds, coca cola etc...it will make you pretty fat! Have fun!

Yes, I agree. I live in the States and get my chocolate from Canada as shipments from Europe are getting more expensive.

Disagree....Hershey's puts out a good product.
Nestle doesn't do too bad a job either.
Depends on what you are looking for.
Dove has different texture than Hershey's.
Toblerone tastes different from either of the previously mentioned products.
But I am not connoisseur.

generally yes,
hersheys is OK as you're eating it, but has an aftertaste of vomit.
In fact, one person told me that a friend thought she had thrown up, and was terribley concerned, but it was simply because she had been eating hersheys.
however, the best choclate in the US, is way better than any british brand and equal to many european brands
