Why cant counties adopt the same strategy since the end purpose of all is to offer better governce.Are the politicains to blame for this.,? since today everyone talks of globalisation and the identity is no longer the issue.

Yep - great idea !

Unfortunately this is very difficult to do - in fact the reverse is happening (Google 'devolution')

The EU (EEC) is giving it a go, but since everyone has to be consulted (and have a Vote / referendum) it all takes MORE time and MORE money to do LESS....

Of course if your ignore the Voters, you might think it would be a lot easier ... however as Napoleon, Hitler & Stalin all discovered, it is VERY difficlut to merge Countries without their agreement ...

Aha ! But companies merge for the benefit of shareholders...so they only do it for the benefit of those who own the companies ! Ordinary slobs who don't own the company but have slogged their guts out working for it, just get f*cked when there is a takeover because that's how the shareholders get the most benefit !

Be very careful what you wish for...

The theory is great, but we are all too attached to the things that give us our identity, especially politicians who would have less power in a confederation than they do now.
