I didn't think that it hurt.
For me it didn't hurt as much as the lobes, but it got a lot more red and really warm.
I see no reason you can't handle it if you have your lobes pierced.

It does hurt but getting an ear pierced is really quick so it's not so bad. By the time you start to feel it it's done. Be careful though. I had a friend who had it done and liked it so much she had about 4 more put in each ear. Although these were done by a professional she ended up with a bad infection and other problems and had to have part of her cartilage actually removed. Now the top of her ear is folded back and forth like a fold up hand fan. Looks gross. Make sure to take good care of it if you get it done.

Yes, a tad more then most other piercings, because it goes through cartilage. The ways to minimize the pain are A) go to a professional piercer, not somewhere that pierces with a "gun". A piercing gun causes blunt force trauma to the body, making it difficult to heal, prone to infections, WAY MORE painful, and it is done by people that are not trained to safely do piercings. B) Make sure you follow the piercer;s aftercare instructions carefully, and using warm water with the sea salt soaks you can do will minimize the healing time and the discomfort. C) buy one of those U shaped travel pillows to help you when you sleep so there is minimal pressure on the piercing.
Go here for professional piercers in your area: http://www.safepiercing.org
Good luck!!

Yes it does hurt more than getting your ears pierced. You will not be able to sleep on that ear comfortably for six months at least. If you plan on piercing both of your cartlidges, plan on doing one first and let it heal and stop hurting during the six month period and then go and pierce the second one.
It took me six months but you may be different. I guess when you notice the pain not there when you sleep you will be ok.
Also when you sleep now the earring will now poke you in the head so you will have to sometimes adjust your earring or your head to make sure the earring does not poke you in the head.

Mine hurt like heck. It hurt so bad I took it out two days later. But mine wasn't done in the most professional of environments. I've heard it all depends on how well you take care of it.

I disagree with the pain people. I didn't think it hurt at all. I would compare it to someone pulling on your ear. It feels hot rather than sharp.

yes, but it is not unbearable. It takes a lot longer for it to heal compared to the standard ear-piercing.
