Calm down! It isn't bad at all. Its more "uncomfortable" than painful. The actual pap will just feel like a bit of pressure and then its over. The instruments they use are not huge, so no worries there. Worst part is getting used to having a doctor between your legs for 5-10 min.
You will be fine to go back to work afterwards. Just remember to relax... if you are tense it will hurt more and you want your first pap to be a good experience, since you will have quite a few more in your lifetime.
Hope this helps =)

The instrument they use is usually really cold, and that was always the most uncomfortable part. It never hurt. Just feels funny.
As for what to expect...
Someone will bring you to a room and ask you to remove all of your clothes and put on a gown. My doctor also gives me a paper sheet thing to cover my legs with, not sure if all do. If you have a male gynecologist and feel uncomfortable, don't worry, the nurse (or a female stand-in) can be requested to stay.
When the doctor comes back in, he / she will ask you to lie down, and will pull out the metal footholders on the bed (stirrups). You'll scoot your bottom down to the end and place your feet in those. The doctor will put some lubricant on his / her fingers and feel around inside gently. No cause for concern here, they are just feeling for anything abnormal.
Next they'll use a metal instrument to clamp your cervix to obtain a swab culture. It's about 6 inches long give or take, and small around. It generally doesn't hurt, just feels really cold going in, uncomfortable when it clicks, and tickles a little when he /she starts swabbing around the cervix. It takes about a minute, no sweat.
Next he or she might press around your stomach area with their hands, again feeling for anything abnormal. They might also do a breast exam in the same manner.
Then it's pretty much over. They'll grant you privacy to get dressed, and a towel to clean up with. Like someone else said, bring a panty liner, you may leak the lubricant they used for a bit.
Of course you can go back to work afterward, and resume your daily activities. You may not get the results of your test right away, or at all. No news is good news.

It's no big deal. Granted it won't be your favorite thing to do but its something we have to do every year. Yes, its a bit uncomfortable. Just try to relax and take deep breaths. Does it hurt? Hurt like in breaking your arm? No. Hurt as in getting a cavity filled? Yes. But it won't take as long as filling a cavity. Can you go back to work? You bet. Once you leave the office it's all over and you can go about your day. Just a hint, take a panty liner. They sometimes use so much goop that you are left "leaking" it the rest of the day. A panty liner will keep your undies from feeling wet and will help you feel fresher.

Pap Test ay...well you can expect a clamp kinda thing that goes in through your vagina. then they stick a super long like Q-tip and they take a swab of your cervix and that doesnt hurt at all. It takes about 3 min. My doc can do it in 30 seconds but other docs are different.
And the tool isnt big at all.
And it doesnt hurt.
And you can go back to work.
And good luck.
DONT WORRY~

before everything, you will desire to be having paps each 365 days whether you attempt to conceive or not. There are numerous the reason why you will would desire to bypass back to repeat the attempt. each so often, there at the instant are not sufficient cells amassed for them to objective appropriate and each so often they come again ordinary. Make a call on your docs place of work and discover out why you will desire to bypass back.

Don't worry baby..just like having sex for the first time...the tool they use is called speculum to insert it into your vagina and open it wide with your legs spread apart so he can looks directly into your uterus and/ or inspect your vaginal wall, then with two fingers tipped together he insert it inside your vagina and one in your asshole to feel for any lump inside...you'll come back for another one..
