Depending on your doctor, if it's a vaginal birth they will then do a D & C afterwards to make sure all placenta is gone. My doctor was crying with us. I called my pastor as soon as I found out my son was dead and they helped my husband with the graveside funeral arrangements. We had immediate family only and it was very short and sweet. If you have a grandparent that's already deceased you can get most cemeteries to allow you to bury the infant above the grandparent. That's what we did. We just had to have all family members give written permission, by fax if necessary....if you need any further advise or just to speak to someone that's been there feel free to e-mail me at rmc12318@yahoo.com

Most of the time if they tell you that you have a still born they will induce you and make you go through the labor process. You will have to deliver the baby as you would a non stillborn. It can be really emotional, so make sure you have loved ones that can be there for you. After the child is born, the dr or nurse will wrap the baby up in a blanket and place him/her in your arms. They will tell you that it is best that you name and bond with the infant even though it is lifeless. You might not be prepared to do this, but they will encourage this because it gives the mother some closeure and acceptance that the infant is not alive. After the mother and father "had their time" with the child they will send the stillborn to the morgue. It is really hard for parents to deal with this so the hospital will also send someone (a counsulor) to talk to you about the situation.

Im a Mortician and I have done my share of work with still borns. The doctors induce you or on some occasions will do a c section. After the birth they will ask you if you want to see the baby, in my experiences most mothers do. After the baby is removed from the mother the baby is placed in a saline solution and refrigerated until the mortuary comes for the baby. The mortuary does all the preparation for the burial and a lot of mortuaries have contact information for the families in the grieving process. Hope this information was helpful.

You'll still give birth to the baby, and if say for instance, the baby was about 5 months , you can decide if you want a funeral for the baby.
Sorry for your loss

You must give birth as you normally would and they usually induce you.
