First step is to get a BA or BS, preferrably in something that prepares you to write and more importantly read hundreds of pages every single night. Focus on your GPA and keep it as high as humanly possible, but make certain to make time to establish study groups and participate in activities like student goverment, clubs, and/or politics. Most Law schools have a significant lean towards one major political party or the other.

In your Junior year begin studying for the GRE's. Take it easy, take multiple practice tests. During the Summer of your junior year, find a paid or unpaid internship with a law firm or as a political page. During your senior year, start applying to Law School. Keep your information organized and prepare 4-5 entrance essays in advance (remember to rewrite them for each college's questions).

Practice by lying to your parents and see if you can be convincing enough they believe you. If you can pull that off, you might make a good lawyer.
