I think cough drops are fine to take during pregnancy - you can also take Tylenol just to aleviate some of the overall pain - head, throat, whatever for the cold. If you feel that terrible you should either go to your doctor (there are lots of things you CAN take during pregnancy and they would probably subscribe something to help you feel better) or at least call your doctor or nurse and see if you should come in or take something for the cold. It is better to take a little medicine and feel better so you can eat and function than to be sick for several days and under nourish your body. Meanwhile drink lots of orange juice!

I believe SOME cough drops are ok.... i am 6mths pregnant and im just now gettin over my cold. I was able to take cough drops.... you just have to read the back label because there are some that say "if pregnant ask a doctor before use" others dont say that like the ones i was able to take. Just be careful and read the back label on them, but you should be ok. But if you feel that it might be a little bit more than a cold that you have then i suggest you go and visit your doctor just to be on the safe side. You dont want your baby gettin infected with something you just thought was a cold and possible wasnt.

.With each of my pregnancy's i felt the same way you do and there was nothing the doctor could give me to help me unless i needed an antibiotic. It is safe to use a salt water throat gargle and a saline nose spray. Vapor rubs and cough lozenges are both safe. For fever and pain, use only regular or extra strength Tylenol. Do not use aspirin, Motrin, or Ibuprofen. These can cause problems with the baby. Getting proper rest and drinking lots of fluids are always recommended to fight a cold, whether pregnant or not. The only other thing that i did was go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist what was safe to take, and then double check by calling your doctor. Hope this was helpful to you.

Cough drops are probably ok...but call and ask your doctor. If you think that it is something more than just a cold...the infection can hurt the baby more than a medication can. So, yes you should call your doctor and make sure that things are ok.

Definitely contact your doctor. I don't think I got sick when I was pregnant, can't remember it was about 10 yrs ago. Cough drops are probably okay, but like everyone else said, call your doctor. It's more than likely not going to go away on it's own.
Hope you feel better soon, sweetie!

first thing call the doctor and findout yourself if you can take any cough syrup or anything to treat your cold. during pregnancy normal medications are usually disallowed for various reasons.
even a common cold/cough syrup may end up causing allergies in some women. better to consult your doctor and take the prescribed medicines as he/she must be aware of your current health. try as much as possible to not take chances with your health while pregnant to avoid any regrets later.

there are safe medicines to take during pregnancy. I was allowed to take robitussin dm when I had a really bad cold. You really need to let it take its course unless you get a bad chest cold. Call your doctor and find out for sure, but I believe cough drops are allowed. Sorry you're sick, when you're preggers you feel even worse!

Everyone on here can tell you take this and take that, but none of them are realy doctors so they will not be able to give you the advice you realy need. I would rather go to a doctor if I were you.
Good luck and congrats on your baby coming.

To answer both of your questions, Call your doctor. They will advise you. When I was pregnant I had my doctor on speed dial
